Brighton Harbour Hotel Spa Hideaway

Friday, 2 June 2017

I'm always up for some pampering, so when one of my besties recently got engaged and I got a new job, we thought what better excuse do we need for a spa day?

After some research, we came across the Brighton Harbour Hotel. Part of the Mr & Mrs Smith collection, this relatively new hotel boasts the best beach location, an award-winning restaurant with unbeatable views and a seriously cool underground spa. As if this didn't sound good enough, when we saw the great spa packages on offer, we booked straight away.

The Spa Hideaway package we went for included a 2 course meal in the Jetty restaurant, a 55 minute treatment and all-day use of the spa facilities (pool, gym, sauna, steam room and hot tubs). It cost £167.50 in total for both of us and this would have been £197.50 per couple on a weekend - an amazing price for what's included!

We started with lunch, which was a 2 course set menu. You could choose either a starter and main, or a main and dessert, with the option to pay a small supplement to have 3 courses. Drinks were not included but were pretty reasonably priced. I had smashed avocado and smoked salmon on toast to start and steak hache for my main. Both were perfectly sized portions, considering we were about to have to squeeze in to our swimsuits for the afternoon, tasted delicious and served on gorgeous plates that were made to look a little like oysters.

After lunch, we headed way way down underground to the spa. The two-storey basement is like a rabbit warren and really added to the feeling of a complete getaway from real life. We enjoyed a few hours of pure relaxation, including a swim in the large pool, a chill out in the hydrotherapy pool and 'Scandinavian' hot tubs, as well as almost an hour's treatment time.

With the package we chose, we were able to select a treatment from:

  • Back, face and scalp massage experience
  • ESPA deeply nourishing body wrap experience
  • Foot and leg pamper
  • ESPA personalised facial

I had the facial, as I'd never had one before. It was amazing. They checked the condition of my skin under UV light, looking for sun damage, signs of aging and dryness and then tailored my experience to my skin type. It also included a head, neck and shoulder massage - bliss!

We had such a great day at the Harbour Spa and left feeling so refreshed and chilled out. I'd highly recommend it to anyone and I'd love to go back myself, perhaps for a stay in one of their gorgeous rooms!

Have you been to any good spas recently? I'd love recommendations for other ones to try - especially in Brighton/Sussex!
